The Soviet film Nebo zovyot (1959) was reedited and dubbed into this science-fiction adventure yarn about rival space missions to put a man on Mars. Competing against the Soviet Union, American scientists race to build a spaceship to travel to the Red Planet. Unbeknownst to all, however, is the fact that Mars contains horrors that mankind should not disturb. Produced by Roger Corman and re-directed by Francis Ford Coppola under the name Thomas Colchart.
