directed by Slava Tsukerman
USA 1982, 35mm, 118 min
With Anne Carlisle, Paula E Sheppard, Susan Doukas, Otto von Wernherr, Bob Brady, Elaine C Grove
This infamous 1983 low budget science fiction oddity boasts a delerious mixture of heroin addiction, sex, fashion, outrageous black humour and UFOs. Russian émigré Slava Tsukerman's minor punk masterpiece takes the alien in alienation seriously and is an object lesson in how to turn budgetary limitations into imaginative advantage. Easily the strangest film to come out of the New York indie explosion of the early 80s, it has endlessly inventive visuals, an astounding electronic soundtrack and a unique atmosphere all of its own.
