GulliBloon (http://www.gullibloon.org) ist ein system zum gemeinsamen konsumieren, erzeugen und archivieren von audiovisuellen inhalten über und durch das internet.

ein schwerpunkt liegt auf dem teilnehmenden als aktives element bei der herstellung und anhäufung des materials. das steht im gegensatz zu derzeit populären peer to peer filesharing systemen, bei denen die autorinnen des gehandelten contents selten selbst am austausch teilnehmen. es soll also eine möglichkeit geschaffen werden, völlig unabhängig von der örtlichkeit des jeweiligen teilnehmers mit anderen über heterogene mediale kanäle zu kommunizieren.

eine weitere komponente beinhaltet die entwicklung von software-werkzeugen auf system- bzw. automationsseite. diese software wird im sinne des open source-gedankens zur verfügung gestellt.

da die strukturen und möglichkeiten der kommunikationsflüsse, die bei betrieb des systems entstehen, sowohl für die aktiven teilnehmer als auch für die rezipienten sehr schnell unübersichtlich werden, liegt ein besonderes augenmerk von gullibloon auf der visualisierung dieser strukturen. dabei wird der aktuelle vernetzungszustand, bandbreiten der verbindungen, anzahl und ip-adressen aller teilnehmer graphisch dargestellt.

für aktive teilnehmer bedeutet dies eine bessere kontrolle des eigenen parts im system, für diejenigen, die sich selbst als rezipienten betrachten (jeder kontakt nimmt aber sofort einfluss auf das geschehen), ist es eine hilfe zur differenzierten aufnahme eines scheinbar chaotischen gewühls aufdringlicher digitaler seltsamkeiten.

GULLIBLOON - general project overview

GulliBloon (http://www.gullibloon.org) is a system for shared consumption, archiving and creation of audiovisual content in and through the internet.

one emphasis lies on the participants as active elements in the creation and accumulation of the material as opposed to e.g. currently popular peer to peer file sharing systems where authors of the material thats being exchanged rarely take part in exactly this exchange. a possibility should be created to communicate over heterogenous mediachannels independently of the participants locality.

another component of the project busies itself with the accompanying development of open source software for maintenance and automation.

because structure and configuration possibilities of the flow of communication in a running system becomes confusing very quick vor all viewers gullibloon also provides visualisation tools which work on the mentioned structures. these for exampple display current connection status, bandwidths of these connections, adresses and activity of all participants.

this means simply more control for active participants and a way to perceive a seemingly chaotic mess of digital oddities more differentiated for those who take part more passively but still are on the fly influencing the this or that parameter. the networks become the instruments.
